9 awesome baby shower gifts
Over the past few years, I have tried to improve my gift-giving. For a baby shower, I will always check the registry, but if it's picked over OR if I just want to give an extra-fun gift, I will usually get something off this list. (I would love to hear what you like to give for showers, too!)
Wood teether/rattle: We received a wooden Iowa teether as a gift before Rooney was born and it was so sweet and thoughful! I love that wood toys are safe and organic for babies. The kind folks from Bannor Toys (who we met at our local farmers' market, as all their toys are made here in Des Moines, Iowa) sent Rooney a personalized wooden car and phone that she loves!
Orla Kiely board books: Books are always a great gift, in my opinion. And if your gift recipient appreciates design, these are perfect! We have all four (Colors, Numbers, Shapes and Creatures) and they are some of our favorites.
Converse crib shoe: I will be buying these for our next kid (size 3, probably). I wanted them for Roo but didn't discover them until she was outgrowing crib shoes, so I decided to save the money. These are also great for either gender!
American Apparel skater dress: This is a great layering piece for little girls! It comes in all sizes so I plan to continue to buy it as Roo grows. For baby gifts I usually go with the Dijon color in size 18-24 months.
Hair bows: These cute bows on alligator clips work for a baby with lots of hair, or a toddler who is growing out her bangs (or even an adult).
Gentle Baby essential oil: This is a blend of essential oils that is great for calming pregnant moms and fussy babies. I can't wait to try this next time! (Lemon and Orange are two other gentle oils for babies under 12 months and can be used for congestion and teething pain.) Click here or contact me for ordering details!
Minnetonka double fringe side-zip bootie: I love to send these booties as a gift as soon as I find out a friend is pregnant (I buy at least size 3). They are so cute and gender neutral. These were one of our favorite gifts!
Boon Lawn Drying Rack: If this is on a baby registry, I will get it. For any mom who is pumping or using bottles, there are a lot of things to wash multiple times a day. This drying rack is great for bottles and accessories, and even looks pretty cool sitting on your counter (shown above with the Twig accessory, which I also have and love).
Goodnight, Goodnight Construction Site: If I'm buying for a boy, this book is my go-to gift, even though we have a girl and LOVE it. It is a hardcover book with paper pages, so it's geared toward older toddlers who don't rip/eat books, but we read it to Rooney when she was little, too.
P.S. One of my favorite things to do for friend's birthday gift is to stalk her Pinterest board to see what she really wants and totally surprise her :)
