first trimester thoughts (weeks 4-11)
Because the first couple months of a pregnancy can be really hard physically and emotionally, and it's usually still a secret and there aren't many people you can talk to about it, I found myself journaling my thoughts here in a draft. I figured that now that you all know, I could go ahead and publish it. Maybe it will help someone else who is going through those rough weeks wondering "Is this normal?"

WEEK 4
TWO PINK LINES! I knew it I knew it I knew it! No one can wipe this smile off my face!
WEEK 5
I can't believe it happened so fast this time. I read that each month you have a 15-25% chance of getting pregnant, and we didn't exactly get to try how I would have ideally wanted to since Eric was out of town, and there is a fairly comical story that no one will ever know, but gosh darn I am eager to meet this baby. But I have to wait six weeks to see my midwife! That's forever away!
I'm having more headaches and cramping than I remember from last time, but I'm overall very thankful for them. Rooney knows something is up and even asked me if there is a baby in my tummy!
WEEK 6
Was the first trimester this hard last time??? I asked Eric and he reminded me of one really terrible day when I was pregnant with Rooney, so yeah, I guess it did. I am so tired and can't tell if my body wants food or not.
I can't wait to tell Rooney that there's a baby in my tummy! I get so excited when I picture her as a big sister.
WEEK 7
If I could treat myself to a Caribou White Peach Berry smoothie every single morning, I would be a happy girl. I can't tell if my body wants food or not. I think it wants food, but I don't feel like eating.
Pretty sure this will be our last baby. I'm sooooo exhausted.
WEEK 8
This slow digestion/indigestion thing is REALLY uncomfortable.
WEEK 9
Feeling tired...moody...sick...overwhelmed. Maybe we rushed into this second baby thing! :/ Stupid hormones.
WEEK 10
I never thought about this before, but next fall Rooney will go to preschool and probably expose baby to more germs than she was exposed to at that age. Do second babies get sick more than first babies?
Last night I was awake from 3:00-4:00 am. My dreams are super weird too.
I am definitely showing!
I can eat about one big meal a day, and then my tummy is full for the day as it tries to digest it all. This has been hard for our family since I haven't been on the same eating schedule as them (and Rooney does not understand why she has to eat supper if mommy isn't!)
(Can you tell I am scatterbrained???)
WEEK 11
We had our first appointment and it went awesome! I met a new midwife and loved her. She couldn't find the heartbeat via Doppler so we unexpectedly got an ultrasound. You could see the head, heart, spine, arms and legs! The heartbeat was 162 bpm. I've already gained five pounds, so I'm ahead of where I was last time!
I'm still only eating about one meal a day (and taking the rest of the day to digest it). I can tell my energy is coming back though because I've stayed up til 9:00 & 10:00 pm the past two nights! We will share the news soon!
