10 years of marriage

As of today, Eric and I have been married 10 years. TEN YEARS!

We celebrated with a weekend trip to Omaha, Nebraska, a few weeks ago, and tonight after work we're heading out to dinner and NOT rushing home to put any kids to bed :-)

I read something recently along the lines of "People say marriage is hard...but maybe life is hard and marriage just gets blamed." I don't remember exactly how it was worded, but it made me think.

Marriage is vowing to love, serve and be with someone for the rest of your life. So yes, in some ways, that can be difficult. When you're together for any period of time, you go through sucky things. We've been together for 13.5 years and we've dealt with financial struggles, deaths of family members, broken relationships, times when one or both of us disliked our job(s), postpartum depression, sleep deprivation, parenting struggles, etc. Right now with two little children we're both working and parenting so hard that we're spent at the end of the day with barely any energy or time for each other or our own friendships and hobbies...but life is so, so good. Our marriage is one of the biggest blessings in my life. When I first met Eric, he had a water bed and shaggy orange hair :-) It was not love at first sight, but then I got to know him...we became best friends, ...and the rest is history. Eric is such an encourager of me and all the things I want to do. I love him more today than ever.

Babe! Ten years in, we've got a lovely home, two adorable kids, jobs we LOVE, more gray hairs than we'd like to admit, and a lot of love. I'm so glad we found each other. I'd pick you again, for sure. xoxo, Kelsey
