Rooney is 8!
Our little girl is 8 (halfway to 16!) and I am both absolutely in love with this age and also struggling with the fact that the next eight years will probably go even faster than the past eight.
In the past year she has conquered several fears, becoming comfortable in the water and around dogs, and learning how to ride a bike. She broke her second bone (wrist), joined her first softball team, went on her first flight and saw the ocean for the first time, and learned how babies are made. Many people comment on her height as she is very tall (97th percentile).
If I had to guess, I think she is an enneagram 6. She is very studious, loyal to her beliefs, loves school, loves math and reading, loves to be home with her family, loves to be included on decisions, and is a wonderful big sister. Sometimes I think she thinks our family has three parents (including her) and we all make decisions for Finch :-)
HOW WE CELEBRATED
We hung rainbow-colored streamers from her door
Her breakfast request was banana chocolate chip muffins
Eric wrote her a letter
We gave her a small stack of gifts (fun pens, sleep masks, a book and glow-in-the-dark stars for her bedroom ceiling) and are also working on redecorating her bedroom
Eric and I went to eat lunch with her at school
She chose Panda Express for dinner
She had swimming lessons and requested the whole family come and watch
She had a unicorn-themed friend party at home with nine of her best buddies — Rooney planned the entire thing with her favorite pizza, Krispy Kreme doughnuts, a unicorn coloring project and color-your-own snap bracelets. HUGE thank you to Party Dash for providing the balloon arch kit and tassel garland (pictured above) which took the fun to a whole new level.
